How to Reduce Stress

Although stress can seem real, it is not. Stress is something that we manufacture in our minds. It is critical to one’s health that worry and stress not enter our brains. The constant fretting over things that have not happened and may never happen consumes the lives of many people.

Norman Vincent Peale, the former minister wrote a book entitled Enthusiasm Makes the Difference. Mr. Peale explained how healing statements derived from the bible can be a great anti-tension technique. He once advised a man, who had long suffered from stress, to meditate daily on certain quotations from the bible.

The man carried the quotations in his wallet. He repeated the Bible verses until they became imbedded in his consciousness. According to Mr. Peale, the man became peaceful. He developed a fresh zest for life. He altered his thinking and a quiet control was brought forth that changed his life.

Here are those daily bible verses:
  • Monday   Peace I give unto you…Let not your heart be troubled.
  • Tuesday   Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stay on thee.
  • Wednesday   My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.
  • Thursday  Best in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself.
  • Friday  Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
  • Saturday  Let the peace of God rule in your heart.
  • Sunday  He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul.
Try meditating on these verses just like Dr. Peale suggested. It might just change your life.
